All the groups associated with the WEB Project will be having their own special celebrations during Whitechurch Library's Centenary Year.
The Centenary Quilt took centre stage on Wednesday 16th March when members of the local community came to 'put a stitch in the quilt' as it nears completion. The centrepiece is an embroidered panel made here, at a sewing class in the library, over eighty years ago. The Quilt, pieced by members of the Women's Arts and Crafts Group, is currently on display here in the Library.
On March 31st a new exhibition on the life of TJ Byrne, the architect who designed Whitechurch Library, was launched. This exhibition is currently on display in the Library.

CELEBRATING A HUNDRED YEARS OF HISTORY

Whitechurch Library is celebrating its centenary in 2011, and South Dublin County Council intend to publish a commemorative book to mark the occasion. The grandparents and great-grandparents of many ‘Old Ballyboden’ families would almost certainly have been living locally when the Library officially opened its doors to the public for the first time on St. Patrick’s Day, 1911.
We’re looking for your help in locating old family photographs which will enable us to build a picture of what life was like in Ballyboden over the past hundred years.
Contact: Breda Bollard at 4930199 or Miriam Moffitt at 4952020 or 4957171 for details.
