THE WAG MAG was launched in 1996 and now each issue (5 per year) has a circulation of approximately
5000 copies.
It is delivered door to door throughout most of the Greater Ballyboden area and is also available
from churches, community centres, libraries, selected retail outlets, etc. We are hoping to make archive editions
available online in the near future.
The Nov / Dec 2011 issue of the WAG MAG is now available.

COMPUTER CLASSES: Due to popular demand, we’ve increased the number and variety of computer classes available in Whitechurch Library. Classes are very small - usually not more than 5 or 6 learners at any one time- so we can guarantee plenty of individual attention. We also try to ensure that you learn vital keyboard skills as you go along so that you get the very most out of your computer. One of these classes is right for you!

BALLYBODEN SOCIAL HISTORY ASSOCIATION
Social History is about the lives of ordinary people – how they lived, where they worked, how they entertained themselves. The Social History Association meets on Thursday afternoons from 2 – 4 pm and new members are always welcome. In addition to regular talks, discussion and lectures, members of the group take part in a number of trips or outings each year. In addition to several local outings, they have made several trips to Northern Ireland as part of a cross-community friendship programme and have visited France, Germany and Italy.

Ballyboden Social History Association travelled to Belfast in February to meet members of Sandy Row Community Forum in the heart of Loyalist Belfast and to have a guided tour of the history and heritage of the area. This cross-border initative could not have taken place without the support of South Dublin County Council, so many thanks to all concerned, especially Willie Shields in the Community Department. The group was invited to visit the Orange Hall in Sandy Row itself, home to the lodges of District no 5. George Chittick, Deputy County Grand Master of the Orange Order, Belfast, along with his wife and members of the Sandy Row Orange Hall gave them a warm welcome.

DISABILITY SUPPORT GROUP
The WEB Project offers a range of disability support services. These include a support group for parents of children with a disability, information on social welfare entitlements, learning supports, work experience, social events and support for carers. We also have four ‘learning groups’ for adults with intellectual impairment. Our resources are quite limited but we do our best to cater for the most pressing local needs. We’re delighted to have been given a ‘Dublin Bus’ Community Award to support our work.
